Match: Manchester City vs Arsenal
Date: April 27, 2023
Time: 12:30 AM (IST)
Venue: Etihad Stadium
Guardiola’s team faced few challenges en route to a convincing victory over Leicester City in their most recent Premier League match, moving them to 70 points overall – just five behind their sputtering opponents with two games remaining.
Merciless Man City, who have gone unbeaten in 16 straight games across all competitions and have won 13 of them, host Arsenal after stringing together a six-game winning streak in the Premier League. However, they have only managed to keep two clean sheets in their last 10 games in the top flight, giving their opponents some hope. Guardiola’s team, on the other hand, has played 12 games at the Etihad in 2023 and has won all 12, scoring at least two goals in each game with the exception of a 1-0 FA Cup victory over the Gunners.
Manchester City Playing XI
Ederson; Akanji, Dias, Laporte; Stones, Rodri; Mahrez, Gundogan, De Bruyne, Grealish; Haaland
Arteta must put in extra effort to find a solution to Arsenal’s defensive woes because Chelsea and Newcastle United, who just destroyed Tottenham Hotspur 6-1, are coming up in the next couple of weeks. Arteta’s team has gone six games without recording a clean sheet since a 3-0 victory at Fulham last month.
However, with 36 points from 16 games on the road and a joint-low 13 goals allowed, Arsenal is officially still the Premier League’s best away team. They have also scored at least twice in each of their last eight games in the top flight, whether they are playing at home or away. Arsenal, however, has lost each of their last 11 Premier League games against Man City since a 2-2 draw in 2017, proving that the venerable Man City curse is still plaguing them.
Arsenal Playing XI
Ramsdale; White, Holding, Gabriel, Zinchenko; Xhaka, Partey; Saka, Odegaard, Martinelli; Jesus
Match Prediction for Manchester City vs Arsenal
Saliba is so important to Arsenal’s defensive and offensive strategies that without him, things could quickly turn ugly for the Gunners on Wednesday night. A Man City team that just cannot stop scoring – or winning – at home should cruise to a comfortable victory to take a huge step towards dethroning their capital counterparts, but the return of Xhaka will at least mean that Arsenal’s midfield should not get bypassed in the manner in which it did against Southampton.
Manchester City 3-1 Arsenal, predicted by us.
