In a significant development, Rinku Singh has been granted his maiden call-up to the India A squad for the last two Unofficial Tests against England Lions in Ahmedabad. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officially announced the 14-member squad on Friday, marking a new opportunity for the talented batter.
Debut Anticipation for Rinku Singh:
After serving as a reserve player with the India Test squad during their recent tour of South Africa, Rinku finds himself in contention for a potential debut in the longest format of the game. The upcoming four-day contests against the England Lions could be the platform for Rinku to showcase his skills and make a mark on the international stage.
Impressive first-class record:
Rinku Singh brings a wealth of experience to the India A side with 43 first-class matches under his belt, accumulating an impressive total of 3099 runs at an average of 58.47. With such a stellar track record, anticipation is high for Rinku to contribute significantly to the team’s success in the upcoming matches.
Inclusions and exclusions in the squad:
Joining Rinku in the 14-member squad are Tilak Varma and Arshdeep Singh, both of whom were part of the recently-concluded T20I series against Afghanistan. On the other hand, Navdeep Saini, Pradosh Paul, Manav Suthar and Pulkit Narang have been omitted from the squad. Additionally, KS Bharat will be unavailable as he is set to join the senior team for the forthcoming Test series against England.

Abhimanyu Easwaran will continue to lead the India A side, providing stability and experience to the team. The second Unofficial Test is scheduled to commence on January 24, followed by the third and final match starting from February 1.
